WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to\u00a0WordPress<\/a>, the free and open source personal publishing software\u00a0that powers over 75 million sites on the web.<\/p>\n

WordCamps come in all different flavors, based on the local communities that produce them, but in general, WordCamps include sessions on how to use WordPress more effectively, beginning\u00a0plugin<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0theme<\/a>\u00a0development, advanced techniques, design, security, etc. To get an idea of the types of sessions typically seen at WordCamps, check out the videos from the previous events in Finland:\u00a02015<\/a>, 2016<\/a>\u00a0and 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n

WordCamps are informal, community-organized events that are put together by WordPress users like you. Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other.\u00a0For more information on common WordCamp elements, read about\u00a0what to expect<\/a>\u00a0at a WordCamp.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0first WordCamp<\/a>\u00a0was organised in San Francisco by Matt Mullenweg in 2006, and since then local communities around the world have organized\u00a0hundreds of others. The first WordCamp Finland was held in Tampere in May 2015 followed by a second one in Helsinki in April 2016. Third WordCamp in Finland was held exactly year later in Helsinki.<\/p>\n

WordCamp Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 2018 will be held at\u00a0Sokos Hotel Alexandra<\/a>\u00a0in the center of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4. Address is Hannikaisenkatu 15, which is within about a 2 minutes walk from the central train and bus station.<\/p>\n

The center of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 is compact and all services are\u00a0achievable by walking. Google Maps<\/a> can help in finding out best routes around Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4. There are a few parking options nearby: P-Matkakeskus<\/a>, P-Asema<\/a> and P-Sokos<\/a> (information in Finnish)<\/em>.
